What would you do if you knew you could not fail?
Million Dollar Question
Most of you are reading the title of this post and are zealous at the thought of walking your day with the certainty of success upon your shoulders.
What would you do?
What could you master?
Braving ahead with your kids schooling, for which you felt so inadequate, in the midst of a pandemic?
Facing the workplace of your intensely arduous job with a levity you knew not before?
Taking the steps to heal that damaged relationship, confident your care will make a difference?
Intently avid bliss at viewing this loss of the obstacles, weights and burdens we tend to trudge through every day…
Because if success is there for us to grasp, is there anything truly in our way? Is there anything with which we must concern ourselves?
The bolted door that impedes your path suddenly isn’t impassable any longer. The inevitability of success provides the confidence that you will somehow breeze through it.
Amazing Truth – Success is Ours
The breathtaking news is that success IS a certainty for us. We can attempt to DO and MORE. As we look at our foundation and source of strength in this life, we can embrace true victory.
Take this idea presented to you and grasp it close, a key in your hand. The locked door awaits, ready for that key and easy entrance.
And, before you dismiss such bold statements, reflect on this…
The question is not whether we’ll encounter success or not. The question is whether we’ll believe the One who is for us.
What Traps Us
Our Definition of Success
Certainly, there are many types of successes we can and do try to pursue in our lives, some lovely and grand, others not so prudent.
Maybe you’re just aiming at peace-filled days in the home you’ve carefully crafted, seeing littles grow and morph into happy little adults.
Perhaps that next big thing of job promotion or trip you’re hoping to take seems a doorway to delight in your mind.
A plethora of people have fantasized pleasuring in piles of money, as they place their lottery numbers and plead for a match. Surely, success in their minds would be waking up as the next lotto ball recipient.
Okay, so what is success? Because I think we’re all aware that God doesn’t guarantee winning lottery numbers.
If we’re not on the right page regarding our definition of success, we’re sure to be sorely disappointed.
Simply put, the One who created our being and breathed the breath of life into this world design doesn’t hold our same self-glorifying views of success.
Wandering eyes peruse the pages of scripture to find the heart of God embedded in the letters…
💛 To love Him first and our neighbors as our own selves (Matthew 22:36-40)
💛 To pursue and embrace knowledge of the True One, to glorify Him and enjoy Him forever. Read more about this amazing concept here.
💛 To show justice, peace, humility (Micah 6:8)
That sure success that we crave?
It’s seen in a life lived for Him.
He’s crafted us to only be satisfied in Him (and only to fully reach unending satisfaction in Heaven).
It’s taking the impossible situation we find ourselves trapped in and walking through the passageway of impossible because of what He did for us.
He is that doorway and He is the key.
The god of this world has swayed many into making their greatest god themselves, as they vie to become supreme…on top…master of their destiny.
Make sure you’re standing at the right gateway. The One He’s crafted for you.
Our Fears, Anxieties, Worries…Lack of Faith
There we are, one day seeming to pass through the most effortless of doorways, the next, on our hands and knees, bumping walls as we stare at the floor and pray a huge abyss will open and swallow us up.
That pathway of our travels is rocky and treacherous. A smooth surface on which to tread is never guaranteed. This simple daily walk is enough to build up a mansion of fears, anxieties and worries in us…and a lack of faith.
Day in and day out of these thought patterns and habits is enough to make us feel defeated before we’ve even reached our mid-day mealtime.
Our Lack of Knowledge of the Greatest One
Oh, friend.
This is for you and me both.
Undoubtedly our most troublesome lock to pick, our lack of knowledge of the God who has knowledge of us.
This is convicting for me.
I’ve witnessed my floundering in and out of a myriad of emotions all within a day’s time, and I’ve been confronted with my own failure to rely upon Him.
I pick through the moments of the day and cringe at how much I let those feelings drive me instead of truth.
All the while, my view of God above is diminishing.
I paint a portrait of a Being who really doesn’t like me so much, after all.
At best, He’s unconcerned.
At worst, He’s just plain against me.
Let’s venture on and delve into some truths, shall we?
God is FOR YOU
Truly the most exciting part of this post for me – even more so than contemplating that dream question… 😏
If you could grasp just an ounce of the measure of God’s love and care for you, all the cares you carry would suddenly melt away.
God is for you.
He is FOR YOU.
Face the true character of God and those trials you face pale in comparison.
Why? Because He is
~ Mighty in power ~
~ Holy beyond measure ~
~ Perfect and good and beyond our wildest imagination ~
And when we allow ourselves to fall in love with Him and set our face to seek Him, nothing shakes us anymore.
31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? 33 Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? 36 As it is written,
– Romans 8:31-39
“For your sake we are being killed all the day long;
we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.”
37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
The One who passionately adores you, who conquered sin and death in order that you may never have to be apart from his love, is for you. And this all-caring, loving Father is unquestionably able to give good gifts to His children, even more so than our earthly fathers (Matthew 7:11).
In the scheme of all this…I’m sure you’ve noticed your desires and His will don’t always align.
The process of pinpointing the pathway can be poignantly painful…
But He is there to guide to that specific calling He has for you. And whether you’re aware of it, He does have specific works for you and He does guarantee sure success in those works.
💕 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. – Ephesians 2:10
💕 And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. – Philippians 1:6
Highest Victory was Achieved on the Cross
When we look back upon our lives, what will we witness?
If our days are spent pressing on to know Him, follow Him in the unique calling he gifts, and bask in the simple faith He can impart to us, our life was lived in all the measure of success that we need.
If our doorways were gateways to learning to enjoy the One true source of joy, then the frames we passed through were mere sentiments of the sweetest success of learning to enjoy Him forever.
Because that’s what Heaven is going to be all about.
Being with the One who carves our days and ways with grace.
Looking into the eyes of Him who always had his eyes on us…
who always walked by our side…
who carried us through the most intimate heartache.
Who brought us through waters and saw us through flames to refine us for purest joy.
Who enabled every moment of good deed, encouraging word, servant-like action with a power and strength only He can bestow.
Who loved us enough to ensure the greatest success – to stand before the throne of God, displaying blood-stained robes that cover us in perfection.
Perfection.
His perfection. Not ours by right. Only by gift (Ephesians 2:8-9).
Because no matter what this world dumps on our laps, weighs on our hearts…
no matter what tears you shed, blood you bleed, agony you carry…
one day, every tears will be wiped away. 🧡
Our victory over this world corrupt is sure and complete, seized and conquered for us in that moment upon the cross. In that moment of resurrection three days later.
It is as good as done.
Keep your eyes on the prize of Jesus as you stand at the doorway to whatever He’s planned for you.
The truest success – the greatest victory of all – is yours.
I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” – John 16:33
Thanks for this encouraging post. “I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel…” Philippians 1:12. Hard things are opportunities–first for God’s glory to shine, then for our ultimate good. May we set our eyes on Him.
Hard things are opportunities–first for God’s glory to shine, then for our ultimate good.
Always so good to remember ☺️
